Strangely, or perhaps not so, 27 year old Steven Moloney only found good coffee after moving from Australia to Sweden in 2012. Ever since, he’s been lucky enough to work with and learn from some of the leaders of the Scandinavian coffee scene. He has worked for numerous different roasteries around Sweden doing everything from making coffee, to developing internal and external training programs to running events.
Steven is a two-time winner of the Swedish National Barista Championship (2016, 2017) and placed 18th in the world in the 2017 World Barista Championship. He has developed the Barista League from an impromptu gathering of 10 baristas in a countryside roastery (2015) to an event attracting hundreds of the best coffee professionals from all over Northern Europe (2017). He probably won’t rest until it’s taken over the world either.
Markus Vestergaard is a Gothenburg native who has been working in coffee since 2013 as a barista, roaster and trainer. Helping develop the roasting program at a well known local roastery, he was responsible for roasting the winning coffee for numerous Swedish champions and even helped win the Nordic Roasting Competition in 2014. He is also the two time Swedish Cup Tasters Champion and finished 8th best in the world in the 2017 World Cup Tasters Championship
